We are pleased to share the City of Parramatta’s announcement of the official opening of the new Alfred Street Bridge in NSW, Australia🎉
Opened in November 2023, Alfred Street Bridge is Australia’s first true diagonal arch bridge! It features Teufelberger-Redaelli Full Locked Coil (FLC) structural steel cables supporting the suspended walkway from the bridges arch, and stainless steel balustrading comprising Flexi-Mesh and hamma wire rope and fittings.
Having worked on the project since 2022, we were engaged by Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure to deliver Full Locked Coil structural steel cables to support the suspended walkway from the bridges arch, and the mesh infill panels to be applied within a stainless steel balustrade system.
As Teufelberger-Redaelli’s Australasian distributor we supplied the Full Locked Coil (FLC) cables which were installed by Teufelberger-Redaelli’s expert team.
On reviewing the initial design criteria for the mesh infill panels to be applied within a mild steel balustrade, we proposed a total stainless steel solution to deliver improvements in sustainability, maintenance, return on investment and solve the issue of dissimilar metals when attaching stainless steel to mild steel (eliminating the need for isolation). The stainless steel alternative also provided a more aesthetically appealing finish.
Our proposed stainless steel solution was accepted, resulting in the stunning balustrade now in place which features hamma® 6mm 1×19 stainless steel cable, hamma® standoffs and Flexi-Mesh.
Our approved Flexi-Mesh installer Bespoke Wire and Rope Pty Ltd installed the balustrade.
For the technically minded, this project required us to deliver:
