Perimeter Options

Perimeter Option

Flexi-Mesh will always create tension forces that have a direct impact on the supporting structure it is being attached too. The ability of this material type to be tensioned in all three dimensions results in unique structures that minimise material use and have a very high economic efficiency.

The design, placement, and adjustment of tensioning elements will control the ultimate shape and deflection of the material. The resultant forces on the supporting structure need careful planning from a multidisciplinary approach. Proper distribution of these forces requires attachment into solid anchoring points such as a building or anchoring base.

Flexi-Mesh is in a unique position to assist architects and landscape architects with the choice of materials required when designing their next architectural cable mesh project. Our range of stainless steel cable and support elements is capable of meeting any project criteria.

Wire Rope Perimeter Cables

Due to the nature of Flexi-Mesh and its applications, a wire rope perimeter cable is the main choice when selecting a perimeter option. The flexibility of the cable allows the panel to absorb the loads applied to it. Wire rope is also a perfect solution when you need to be able to install the panels on site and cant have pre-fabricated frames.

Typically most enginneers will select hamma® X 6.0mm 1×19 as the perimeter cable, with hamma® Standoffs and hamma® Industrial Rigging Screws to Forks.

Support Frames

Support frames made of round tubes or rods absorb the mesh loads via their inherent bending strength. Accurate calculation of these loads makes it possible to determine the tube dimensions and characteristics. The distance between the fixing points and the size of the tubes are in close proportion to one another. For the standard stainless steel tube of D=21.3 x 2 mm we recommend a maximum intermediate fixation distance of 1.00 m.

Using Flexi-Mesh with frames is a cost effective way to manufacture, as the mesh is laced in our factory and supplied ready for installation.
