We are pleased to announce that work has begun on another project for Parks Victoria – Portarlington Pier. This project features products from our hamma® and flexi-mesh range.
Located in Port Phillip Bay, Portarlington Pier offers visitors a leisurely walk and some great fishing spots, with sweeping views of Corio Bay and the Melbourne skyline.
Following our successful project delivery with the supply of wire ropes and balustrading for the new Port Campbell suspension bridge (located on the scenic Great Ocean Road), Parks Victoria asked us to assist with design of balustrading for the new Portarlington Pier on Port Phillip Bay.
As was the case for the Port Campbell project, Parks Victoria needed a marine grade solution for the balustrading in keeping with the overall concept which included a curved design seeking to imitate the shape of a fin.
Parks Victoria particularly liked the aesthetic qualities of the flexi-mesh architectural cable mesh installed at Port Campbell as it could cater to the curved shape and delivered a complete marine grade solution.
We worked with leading engineering consultancy Partridge to design a balustrading system to meet the initial design concepts and adhere to safety standards set by the Building Code of Australia.
The photos show the balustrading being installed by Bespoke Wire and Rope. Completion is expected by June 2022. We’ll share further updates.
